Palatine school bus strikes three cars
Two people were injured – one of them a student – after a school bus struck three vehicles as its driver attempted to change lanes in Palatine Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The crash near the intersection of Lake-Cook and Rand roads occurred at 3:40 p.m. As the school bus moved to a left-hand turn lane, it collided with three vehicles — a Pontiac Torrent, Ford Mustang and Chevy Malibu — according to Sgt. Tim Sharkey of the Palatine Police Department.
The injured student and a driver of one of the cars were transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with minor injuries, said Capt. Fred Johnson of the Palatine Fire Department.
He said there were a total of 13 students from Palatine Township Elementary School District 15 on the bus.
