Island Lake mayor vetoes board decisions

Island Lake Mayor Debbie Herrmann filed six new vetoes with the village board on Thursday night. Herrmann objected to decisions the board made April 14, including: hiring a program director for the recreation department; changing how the ethics adviser is appointed; and changing how members of the lakes management board are appointed or removed. The vetoes are the latest Herrmann has filed; other vetoes have been overridden by the board. The board can vote to override these latest vetoes at a future meeting.
