Cops: Glendale Heights man stole for eBay
Authorities say a Glendale Heights man generated extra income by stealing merchandise from his employer and selling it on eBay.
It was a scam that Trung “Chuck” Pham employed for about eight years before his arrest this week on felony theft charges, police announced Thursday.
Pham, 30, of the 200 block of Paddock Circle, is accused of taking more than $150,000 in goods from Omron Corp. in Glendale Heights since 2003.
Police said a co-worker uncovered the theft in March. Authorities later executed a search warrant at Pham’s home and recovered about $33,000 in stolen merchandise.
“At this time, portions of this investigation are ongoing,” Glendale Heights police Cmdr. Steve Ewoldt said in a news release.
Omron carries automotive electronics, medical equipment, and equipment for production machinery and factory automation, among other goods, according to its website.
A DuPage County judge set Pham’s bail Thursday at $50,000, meaning he would need $5,000 to be released. Pham appeared to have bonded out by afternoon, according to county jail records.
Pham’s defense attorney said in bond court that his client had no prior criminal history, and has a wife and young child. His next court date is June 6.
