Border Foods acquired by Mount Prospect company

DEMING, N.M. — A Mount Prospect-based condiment manufacturer and marketer has acquired New Mexico's Border Foods Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

Mizkan Americas made the announcement Thursday in a press release. The manufacturer says the acquisition builds on parent company Mizkan Group's plan for global expansion of its retail and food services businesses.

Mizkan had been a supplier to Border Foods, which is known for its processing of chile peppers as well as its manufacturing of enchilada sauces and other Mexican food products.

A call seeking comment from officials at Border Foods headquarters in Deming was not immediately returned. It's not clear how the acquisition would impact employees or operations.

Border Foods began operations in 1972 and bills itself as the world's largest processor of green chile.
