Schaumburg Rotary Club honored at district conference

Eight members of Schaumburg A.M. Rotary attended the April 28-May 1 Rotary District 6440 Conference held at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort.

During the Saturday awards luncheon, the Schaumburg club received the 2010-11 Rotary Presidential Citation for balanced achievement in Rotary's Four Avenues of Service (Club, Community, Vocational and International).

The District Conference included informative plenary sessions in addition to opportunities for fellowship and networking amongst the more than 600 Rotarians who attended this annual event.

A hands-on food packaging service project with the Kids Against Hunger organization offered conference participants the opportunity to prepare more than 20,000 meals for distribution to earthquake-ravaged sections of Haiti.

Membership in Rotary runs the spectrum from young professionals to retired seniors looking for opportunities to make a difference in their community. Schaumburg A.M. Rotary, a multi-generational group of men and women, meets every Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. at Poplar Creek Country Club, 1400 Poplar Creek Drive in Hoffman Estates.
