Lake Zurich’s baseball team has been waiting for a hot streak.
The Bears might be in the midst of one after pounding host Lake Forest 12-0 in five innings Friday for their third win in a row.
“When we play defense and attack at the plate, we are tough,” coach Gary Simon said after his Bears improved to 8-13 overall and 2-5 in the North Suburban Lake Division. “Our players are determined to turn the season around.”
Parker Asmann allowed only 2 hits in his five-inning complete game. He struck out seven and walked only one.
Sean Eder doubled twice and drove in 4 runs for Lake Zurich. John Orlando and Jeremy Reusch also had 2 hits. Reusch and Mark Dorfman doubled.
The teams rematch at 10:30 a.m. today at Lake Zurich.
Stevenson 12, Deerfield 5: The Patriots improved to 18-2, getting 3-hit games from Michael Martin (3 runs, double), Adam Walton (2 RBI) and Anthony D’Angelo (triple, 2 RBI).
Jacob Sholl (1-0) pitched 5 innings of 3-hit ball (0 earned runs) and also went 2-for-3 with a double. Steve Galanopoulos also had a double for Stevenson, which visits Mundelein in a North Suburban Lake showdown at 11 a.m. today.
