Baseball/Fox Valley roundup

Alex Morrow pounded out 3 home runs and had 6 RBI Friday as Streamwood’s baseball team rolled to a 14-4 Upstate Eight Conference win over Elgin.

Sophomore Zach Harris threw a six-inning complete game for the Sabres (20-2, 14-2), striking out nine and walking three while allowing 5 hits.

Pat Manning, Richie Gorski, Tim Cohen and Brandon Guilfoyle combined for 10 hits and 9 runs scored for Streamwood. Gorski homered and tripled and Cohen had 2 doubles.

Derek Strohmaier had a 3-run home run for the Maroons (2-18-1, 2-15-1) and Jordan Smith added 2 hits. Joe Kellenberger was the losing pitcher.

Lake Park 8, Bartlett 3: Dan Gallanis and Ryan Yore (2B, RBI) each had 2 hits but Bartlett came up short in this Upstate Eight game. Tyler Farina also drove in a run for the Hawks and Dan Schlitter suffered the loss on the mound.

DeKalb 8, Burlington Central 5: DeKalb scored all of its runs in the first two innings and went on to a nonconference win over Burlington. Sam Klein had 2 hits including a home run for BC (13-6) and Nick Hahn added a round-tripper. Joey Lange (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season on the mound for the Rockets, who will play at Glenbard South at 10 a.m. today and then meet Palatine at 7 p.m. at Trout Park in Elgin.

College baseball

Judson ousted: Judson University lost 6-4 to St. Francis and then 10-8 to Trinity International Friday and was eliminated from the CCAC Tournament. Johnny Amann, TJ Swank and Andy Parsill each had 2 hits for Judson in the loss to St. Francis and Brian Brauer hit a solo home run. Mitch Smith was the losing pitcher. Against Trinity, Nate Rohl was 3-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBI, while Amann, Giovanni Cantwell and Levi Pippenger each had 2 hits. Swank was the losing pitcher.

ECC 6, Joliet 2: Tom Roth had 3 hits, Justin Kalusa 2 doubles and Julian Ramirez a double as Elgin Community College notched a nonconference win on the road. Craig Lipp (6-0) was the winning pitcher for the Spartans (37-12). He allowed 8 hits and had 8 strikeouts.
