Boating restrictions lifted
The Fox Waterway Agency announced Friday that no-wake restrictions have been lifted from the lower Fox River between the Algonquin Dam to the Stratton-Bolger Lock and Dam in McHenry. The announcement comes a day after the same restriction was lifted on the Chain O’ Lakes and upper Fox River from the Illinois/Wisconsin border to the dam in McHenry. This means boaters are no longer required to travel the waterway at less than 5 mph and are free to make a wake. However, boaters are urged to continue to watch for swift-moving currents created by high water due to heavy rainfall in April, and floating debris that may have been dislodged by the high water.
