Four hurt in chain reaction on Edens Spur
A four-vehicle, chain-reaction crash that occurred during rush hour on the Edens Spur injured four people Wednesday, according to police.
However, none of the injuries were life threatening, Illinois State Police officials said early Thursday.
The crash occurred about 4:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes about a mile east of Waukegan Road near Northbrook, Illinois State Police authorities said.
Police said four victims were taken to three different hospitals, with only one of the people involved in the crash suffering from serious injuries.
Troopers said traffic was starting to slow down in all lanes of the Edens when one of the vehicles rear-ended a second, causing the chain reaction crash that involved the four cars.
Three of the drivers have been released from area hospitals, while only one driver remained hospitalized.
No one has been cited in the crash as of Wednesday morning, officials said, but the accident remains under investigation.
Traffic was backed up for at least at hour as one lane of traffic was closed for about 30 minutes, Serrano said.
