Lake Co. Family YMCA featured in Vernon Hills Update

Lake County Family YMCA officials highlighted what's new at the Y for host Lynn Brandl of “Vernon Hills Update.”

Produced by Cable TV Coordinator Mike Storto of the Village of Vernon Hills, the 60-minute May “Update” features the YMCA among other subjects.

YMCA Board of Directors Chairman Arnold Thomas (Hawthorn Woods) discussed exciting changes at the Y: a new board, new CEO, new strategic plan underway and new branding as well. He emphasized that the Y is a cause-driven nonprofit that reinvests in the entire Lake County community. The Y never turns anyone away due to inability to pay.

Board member Anne Veit of Vernon Hills next talked about the Y's annual fundraiser set for May 21 at Flatlander's Brewing Company, 200 Village Green, Lincolnshire. The Brand New Day Community Celebration allows the Y to continue and expand its programs and services that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

YMCA Ambassador Antoineo Harris, former Chicago Bear, next explained that his passion is youth development and that is why he is giving back to the community through volunteering at the Y.
