Community Volunteers Invited to Participate in Downtown Planting

West Chicago, Illinois: May 5, 2011 – Community volunteers are invited to plant colorful annuals in downtown West Chicago public green spaces. The beautification effort is in conjunction with the City of West Chicago's annual garden festival, Blooming Fest, and is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 8:00 a.m., one hour prior to the start of the event.

“This is a great opportunity for families to contribute to their community in a meaningful way by enhancing the downtown landscape for all to enjoy,” said City spokesperson Rosemary Mackey. Plants will be supplied by the City; however, residents should bring their own hand tools and meet at the Fox Community Center, for the distribution of flowers and instructions that morning. For more information, call Rosemary Mackey at (630) 293-2200 x139.
