Elgin
Ÿ Quinton D. Harris, 35, of the 500 block of West Highland Avenue in Elgin, appeared in bond court Friday on felony charges of possessing about 9 grams of cocaine within 300 feet of a school with the intent to deliver, along with aggravated fleeing a police officer, according to court documents. When Elgin police tried to make a traffic stop, Harris increased his speed, turned off his lights, ran a stop sign and disregarded the toll booth getting onto I-90 at Dundee Avenue, documents said. Bail was set at $300,000, of which Harris must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled for May 4 in St. Charles.
Ÿ Viviana Vela-Caceres, 26, of the 1100 block of Ash Street in Elgin, appeared in bond court Friday on charges of possession of less than 15 grams of cocaine and a fictitious Social Security card, both felonies, according to court documents. South Elgin police arrested Vela-Caceres on Thursday. Bail was set at $30,000, of which Vela-Caceres must pay 10 percent to be released before her next court date, scheduled for May 4 in St. Charles.
Ÿ Bret T. Curlin Jr., 27, of the 600 block of Chester Avenue in Elgin, was arrested and later charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after being approached by Elgin police just after midnight Friday in the 700 block of Jefferson Avenue, according to police reports. Police found Curlin with a metal spoon and hypodermic syringe needle, reports said. Curlin is next due in court at 10:30 a.m. June 10 in Rolling Meadows.
Algonquin
Ÿ Derrick I. Hill, 37, of the 200 block of Washington Street in Algonquin, was indicted April 27 by a McHenry County grand jury with predatory criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, according to county records. He was arrested April 7 in the 200 block of Webster Court, Algonquin police said. No further information was available.

Ÿ Numerous precious items were stolen from Around The Clock Restaurant, 5011 Northwest Hwy., sometime between 8 p.m. April 24 and 5:45 a.m. April 25, police reports say. Someone broke in through the rear door, forced open a safe and removed a large amount money, plus numerous 1-ounce gold coins, a 10-ounce gold nugget 1991 Australian coin, a 12-ounce gold Panda coin, a men’s 18-carat gold ring with “Around the Clock” engraved on it, a 1-carat diamond ring, numerous silver quarters and $600 in $2 bills. Ÿ Someone broke the windshield on a Chevy Impala and scratched its side with a key while it was parked between 11:45 p.m. Sunday and 12:15 a.m. Monday in the 14W600 block of Route 25 near East Dundee, reports said.
