Palatine man sent to ‘boot camp’

A Palatine man was sentenced Monday to Cook County’s “boot camp” program for drug offenders after admitting to possession of less than 15 grams of cocaine he received at an Addison gas station Oct. 20.

Bilal Dib, 28, of the 500 block of Parkside, pleaded guilty to the Class 1 felony, but had originally been charged with a Class X felony for possession of 91.5 grams of cocaine. He was arrested by Arlington Heights police who were following up on a tip.

The impact incarceration program, or “boot camp,” to which Dib was sentenced begins with an in-house program and ends with a year of supervision.

“I made a terrible mistake,” Dib told Cook County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Fecarotta. “I will meet and exceed this court’s expectations.”
