Visit Meijer May 15-28 to enter football challenge

Chicago Bear Charles Tillman with 2010 Participants at the Charles Tillman Meijer Celebrity Football Championship Cornerstone Foundation

The fifth annual Charles Tillman Meijer Celebrity Football Championship, otherwise known as the “ultimate flag football experience” is slated for June 18 in Lake Zurich.

The official sponsor of the event, Meijer, is offering their customers the chance to participate and line up next to their favorite NFL players to compete for the championship trophy.

Those interested can fill out an entry form at any Chicago area Meijer location beginning May 15-28 to enter the sweepstakes. Meijer will randomly select four lucky customers and their guests to be on the roster of the Meijer-sponsored team. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation, whose mission is to provide opportunities and resources to children or their families who are in need.

On June 18, the four winners and their guests will meet up with their celebrity NFL quarterback and compete against 13 other teams at Lake Zurich High School, 300 Church St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Free tickets to the fifth annual Charles Tillman Meijer Celebrity Football Challenge are available at all Chicagoland Meijer locations. Customers are encouraged to attend and support the sweepstakes winners while enjoying a little old-fashioned flag football.

NFL players will be on sight to meet and greet with fans and sign autographs. Children of all ages can visit the Cornerstone Fan Zone, which will have a variety of interactive games and activities. The Cornerstone Foundation will be on site with giveaways for attendees, including an iPod Touch, among other great prizes.

The Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation was founded by Chicago Bears Defensive Back Charles Tillman to benefit families in need. Initially, the Foundation's focus was on education, but shifted when Tillman's three-month old daughter Tiana was diagnosed with life-threatening cardiomyopathy in 2008, which resulted in a heart failure and a heart transplant just three months later. Today, Tiana is three years old, happy and healthy. The Foundation now provides support to those in similar circumstances, enriching lives by providing needed resources to families of children with chronically and critically ill children. The Cornerstone Foundation regularly partners with sponsors to raise money through events such as the Charles Tillman Meijer Celebrity Football Championship.

Please visit your Chicago-area Meijer for additional information and your chance to enter.
