Marker dedicated in honor of former Hanover Park police chief

The first Hanover Township Heritage Marker was dedicated Saturday at Ahlstrand Park in Hanover Park, in honor of a former police chief.

The marker commemorates the naming of the park for former Hanover Park Police Chief Carl Ahlstrand, who was killed in the line of duty in 1959.

Village and township officials, including Township Supervisor Brian P. McGuire, Village President Rod Craig and Deputy Police Chief Mark Getz, spoke at the event.
