One-car accident knocks out power
A minor one-car crash on Callahan Road Saturday afternoon caused a power outage along much of the rural road in unincorporated Wauconda, officials said.
Around 1:40 p.m. Saturday, a driver lost control of their vehicle and hit a telephone pole, knocking it out of the ground, fire battalion Chief Bob Rucker said.
The driver, who was traveling alone, was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with minor injuries.
Wauconda fire and Lake County sheriff’s office officials responded to the call.
Power was lost to the stretch of Callahan Road between Rand Road and Old Gimer Rd. The power outage affected an estimated 20 homes along the rural farm road.
Callahan Road was closed for several hours Saturday afternoon as ComEd worked to restore power.
