Mt. Prospect store, library to give out free comics

In honor of national Free Comic Book Day Saturday, May 7, Comix Revolution in Mount Prospect and the Mount Prospect Public Library will give away free comic books.

At Comix Revolution, 115 W. Central Road, starting at 10 a.m., thousands of comics featuring Green Lantern, Thor, Avatar the Last Air Bender, Star Wars, Archie, The Simpsons and many more will be given out free. Special guest comic creator Trevor Mueller will be there to sign sketches, as well as creator-owned comic work.

The library, meanwhile, is inviting people to stop by Fiction/AV/Teen or Youth Services to pick up a free comic book donated by Comix Revolution. Limit one per person, while supplies last.

Mueller is the writer/artist/creator of several popular Web comic series, including the fantasy epic “The Temple of a Thousand Tears.” He also wrote the short story “Inspiration” for the benefit comic anthology “Hope: The Hero Initiative” from Ronin Studios. Mueller has been nominated for several Web comic awards.

Free Comic Book Day is celebrating its 10th anniversary, where shops worldwide hand out free comics on the first Saturday in May. For details, call (847) 506-0800 or visit comixrev1@yahoo.com.
