LITH woman sentenced to 9 years for killing newborn in 2007
A former Lake in the Hills woman has been sentenced to nine years behind bars for killing her newborn baby in 2007.
Lyndsey Tucker, 29, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter Monday after a plea agreement in McHenry County Circuit Court, Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Combs.
Combs added that Tucker is being sent back to federal prison where she is in the process of serving a 53-month bank robbery sentence.
Tucker was eligible for up to 14 years behind bars for the death of the newborn, Combs said. Prosecutors dropped one count of concealing a homicidal death as part of a plea deal accepted Monday.
In July of 2007, Tucker was discovered passed out and bleeding in her apartment near Harvard by her boyfriend, authorities said.
Officials later determined she had given birth, despite her repeated denial that she was pregnant, authorities said.
The boyfriend found the infant wrapped in a brown plastic bag under the bathroom sink of the apartment, authorities said.
Combs said it’s unclear at this time if the 9-year state sentence handed down by McHenry County Circuit Judge Sharon Prather and the 53-month federal sentence will be served concurrently.
“That’s something the U.S. Attorney and federal court will need to decide,” Combs said.
