New principal named for Carl Sandburg Juniior High

Community Consolidated School District 15 has announced that Greta Rakow, assistant principal at Huntley High School in Huntley, will serve as principal at Carl Sandburg Junior High next year.

Mrs. Rakow has been the assistant principal at Huntley High School since 2008. Prior to that, she served as the school's dean of students for three years, and as a social studies teacher for six years. Before joining the staff at Huntley High School, she served for two years as a middle school social studies teacher in Crystal Lake School District 47.

Mrs. Rakow holds a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Valparaiso University, and a master's degree in administration and educational leadership from Aurora University.

Her appointment is effective July 1, 2011.
