Schaumburg man faces drug charge
A Schaumburg man wanted on a $40,000 warrant for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, was arrested Friday on a similar charge.
Schaumburg police arrested 29-year-old Kevin Vergara on the warrant outside his home in the 1300 block of Algonquin Road, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Robin Murphy during Vergara’s bond hearing Saturday in Rolling Meadows. A search of Vergara’s left sock revealed a substance that tested positive for cocaine, Murphy said.
A Cook County judge set his bail on the new charge at $80,000.
Vergara’s background includes a 2002 conviction for the manufacture and delivery of cannabis and supervision for possession of cannabis, also from that year.
He next appears in court on May 12.
