Highland student receives technology award
Spencer Chartier of Highland Middle School in Libertyville was one of 12 students selected from more than 50 school districts to receive the Infinitec North Technology Achievement Award in March.
Chartier, a seventh-grader at Highland Middle School, will be honored at an April 28 dinner and celebration at the Cotillion in Palatine. He is being honored for using assistive technology, which he has been using most of his life.
During the celebration, each student will be highlighted with a multi-media presentation and receive an engraved award, the Infinitec Bear, and McDonald's gift cards.
Libertyville Elementary District 70 is a member of Infinitec North Coalition, which provides assistive technology for students. It is a division of United Cerebral Palsy of Chicago.
Chartier, a triplet, was nominated for the award by his educational team at the middle school.

“The goal of the program is to celebrate the accomplishments of learners with disabilities who attend schools in the Infinitec Southwest Coalition area and who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in overcoming challenges and accomplishing personal goals using technology,” said Heather Miller, with United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago / Infinitec.
