Police: Man attacked ex-girlfriend, stepfather
A 25-year-old man remains behind bars after police say he forced his way into an ex-girlfriend's Crystal Lake apartment and attacked her and her stepfather.
Abraham Silva has been charged with four felony counts following the Thursday night attack including home invasion, criminal trespass to a residence and domestic battery, said Commander Dan Dziewior.
Police said other family members were present in the apartment when Silva broke in after his ex-girlfriend would not let him in.
He then battered the woman before her stepfather intervened, giving her a chance to escape, police said.
Silva fought with the stepfather and chased after the woman and struck her again, according to police.
Officers responded to the apartment on the 200 block of West Terra Cotta Avenue at about 9:30 p.m., but were not able to catch Silva who fled on foot. Authorities obtained a warrant and he turned himself in the next day.
Dziewior said the victims did not suffer serious injuries and no one was taken to the hospital.
Silva stole the woman's cell phone during the altercation and was also charged with theft, police said.
Dziewior said Silva has a criminal history, but nothing as serious as the home invasion or felony battery charges.
