Northbrook deed service company agrees to exit Iowa
A Northbrook-based business owner has agreed that his organization will stop marketing deeds and other government records to Iowa residents.
A news release from the office of Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller says the agreement was reached with Barry Isaacson, principal owner of National Record Service, Inc., and National Deed Service, Inc., of Northbrook. Isaacson didn't immediately return a call on Friday.
Miller's office says mail solicitations were being sent to Iowans. They looked like they were designed to suggest a connection to the government, and they offered to provide certified copies of deeds for $59.50.
Miller's office says certified copies of deeds are available from county recorders for $5.
Last month Miller's office said a California-based company has agreed to stop its marketing deed retrieval services to Iowans.
