Schaumburg's 2011 brush pickup program

The brush collection program for 2011 has been expanded to a 24-week period that runs from May 2 through Oct. 28. Residents no longer have to call in to receive brush pickup service. Brush will be picked up in accordance with your refuse collection schedule. This program is open to single-family residences only.

Brush pick-up schedule is defined below:

1. If your refuse collection is on Monday, brush pickup is the first week of the month.

2. If your refuse collection is on Tuesday, brush pickup is the second week of the month.

3. If your refuse collection is on Wednesday, brush pickup is the third week of the month.

4. If your refuse collection is on Thursday, brush pickup is the fourth week of the month.

Brush must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday of your scheduled pickup week.

Preparation

Branches are to be neatly placed curbside with the cut-ends toward the street. Unorganized or entangled brush piles will result in a door-tag requiring resident to re-stack the pile.

Restrictions

Items not collected include:

• Stumps

• Logs eight inches in diameter or larger

• Rose bushes

• Railroad ties

• Construction debris

Republic Services will accept:

Smaller brush and yard waste can be placed into biodegradable bags not to exceed 30 gallons in capacity or 50 pounds in weight.

• Larger brush piles must be bundled using garden string or twine. The bundle size is restricted to 4 foot in length, 2 foot in diameter, and no heavier than 50 pounds. Branches cannot exceed 3 inches in diameter.

• Branches or stumps larger than 3 inches in diameter cannot be placed in the landscape waste bags; they must be handled with regular refuse. Weight is limited to a maximum of 50 pounds. Excessive amounts will incur a charge or require an alternative disposal method.

If a special pick-up is required or for more information, call Republic Services (847) 981-0091 for more information.
