Hersey band fest is Saturday

More than 2,500 people are expected at John Hersey High School on Saturday, April 9, to hear some of the best high school bands in Illinois. The 11th annual Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival will run 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with 28 high school bands participating. Hersey is at 1900 E. Thomas St., Arlington Heights. Each band will play a 30-minute concert before a distinguished panel of judges from around the country to receive ratings and critiques. Each band will get an extensive educational clinic after its performance. Two collegiate bands, The University of Evansville Wind Ensemble and the University of Illinois Brass Band, will also play featured concerts.
