Two charged in Addison home burglary
Two Chicago men who led Elmhurst police on a short high-speed car chase Monday morning are facing felony charges in connection with the burglary of an Addison home.
Christian D. Johnson, 18, of 456 E. 91st St., and Antonio C. White, 25, of 3001 S. Michigan Ave., each have been charged with residential burglary, the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office announced Tuesday.
In addition, White has been charged with two counts of felony criminal damage to state -supported property for driving his car into two Elmhurst police vehicles while trying to avoid apprehension, officials said.
Both men were being held at DuPage County jail. If found guilty, they each face up to 15 years in prison.
Authorities say the residential burglary happened about 9:30 a.m. Monday when Johnson and White went to a home on Plamondon Drive in Addison. It’s alleged Johnson broke into the home and removed several items, including a flat-screen television and a jewelry box.
While Johnson and White were attempting to get away in White’s car, Elmhurst police, who had been tailing the men, attempted to pull over the vehicle.
There was a brief chase where White drove in excess of 90 mph before crashing his car into two unmarked police cars, officials said. Both defendants were taken into custody.
On Tuesday, a DuPage judge set bail at $150,000 for Johnson and $250,000 for White. They would have to post 10 percent to bond out of jail.
Their next court appearance is scheduled for April 21.
