Jacobs, Duffy, Dewitt win in Anitoch-Lake Villa D117
Sandy Jacobs, Kari King Duffy and Kenneth Dewitt won a five-way race for three seats on the Antioch-Lake Villa Area High School District 117 board.
With all 39 precincts reporting Tuesday night, unofficial results showed incumbent Jacobs, a schoolteacher, had received 1,339 votes; Duffy, a Carthage College professor, had 1,030, and former Millburn District 24 board member Dewitt with 884.
They outpaced business owner Robert Buehler, who had 797 votes, and high school administrator Merry Quinn-Krajniak, who had 690, in the election for three, 4-year terms. All vote totals are unofficial and will not be official until the board canvasses the vote later this month.
Incumbent Ronald Mathias ran unopposed for an unexpired 2-year term.
The new board members face the challenge of balancing the district’s budget in the face of declining revenues.
