Fox River Grove gets go-ahead to shop for electricity
Voters in Fox River Grove said yes to the village negotiating cheaper electricity rates for residents and small businesses.
According to unofficial tallies in Lake and McHenry counties, 334 people approved the referendum while 274 rejected it.
The village will now seek bids from suppliers competing with Exelon, which owns ComEd. The Northern Illinois Municipal Electric Cooperative will work with the village to find lower rates. Residents can opt out of the program.
