West Chicago Mayor Directs Committee to Create a Special Observance for the 10th Anniversary of 9/11

West Chicago, Illinois: April 5, 2011 – West Chicago Mayor Mike Kwasman has appointed residents Donald and Nancy Smith to form a committee to plan a city-wide observance of the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America which took place in New York, Pennsylvania, and at The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.

The committee will work in conjunction with all the taxing bodies of the City of West Chicago. This observance is not intended to replace or interfere with the West Chicago Fire Protection District's annual commemorative service; rather it is hoped to provide an additional dimension for all residents of West Chicago. The committee will include service organizations, churches and others.
