Elgin man hurt in Crystal Lake crash
An Elgin man was injured when a Chicago driver rear-ended a pickup truck at a Crystal Lake intersection Monday morning, according to police.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Randall and Ackman roads at about 7:53 a.m. and traffic was restricted for about 30 minutes as crews removed the damaged vehicles, according to officials.
Police said 24-year-old Amanda Poole of Chicago was driving a 1996 Mercury Cougar when she struck the back of a 2008 Ford pickup driven by an Elgin man after he stopped at a red light.
The 32-year-old Elgin man was transported to Centegra Memorial Hospital in Woodstock with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to police.
Neither Poole nor the two passengers in the Elgin man’s vehicle were injured.
Police said the crash caused substantial damage to the Ford pickup.
Poole was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and the Elgin man was cited for driving an uninsured vehicle.
