What were Schaumburg leaders thinking?
“It is a singular instance of the capriciousness of the human mind that with all that has come down upon this head, there are still those that are against this Constitution.” Alexander Hamilton-Federalist #15.
What a wonderful quote. It clarifies the observation of our God: “Father forgive them; they know not what they do,” Luke 23:34. Even better, Acts 28:26-28 or Matthew 13:13.
I suppose that our zoning board and village president have been raised so high upon the heights of their skyscrapers (that one day the New Madrid fault and the laws of nature and nature’s God will once again strike flat), that it never occurred to them that Riccardo’s Restaurant on the south end of town had the most magnificent, unrestricted horizon view all the way to Lake Michigan.
Even an idiot, such as myself, has seen it daily and dreamed about owning property with such a view. There was no view like it in the entire village.
What a fine place to put some such abhorrent structure, that mankind should feel we need in the same fashion that they felt we needed a station at every corner; a building of sufficient height to block high ground that General Lee himself would’ve prayed he might hold.
As though Schaumburg is in dire need of another Walgreens when they could’ve had one of the most sought-after fine dining restaurant locations in the entire Chicagoland area if not the entire Midwest!
Progress through thoughtful planning. I framed it with a forest. They blocked it with a concrete wall. Twenty-five years of work shot to hell. Now there’s a fistful of dollars instead of “common sense.”
Go build yourself a clock!
