Nearly a year since Station 31 closed, and we're no nearer the truth
We are now just a little over a week away from the one year mark of Streamwood Fire Station 31's closing.
The mayor and board of trustees said the village manager closed the station, and the village manager says the board of trustees and mayor decided to close it during budget workshops.
But there is no paperwork showing any kind of vote taken. Who made the choice to shut it down? It'll be a village mystery forever.
At least now after 11 months the trustees finally admit to 31 being closed. Trustee James Cecille has been telling residents he has fought to reopen the station. But where was he during the protests? Where was he during the last round of “workshops?” I will tell you where, he was silent.
Where is the investigation into how Station 31 was shut down? Why the cover-up into our fire protection? Who approved fire department staffing to be reduced from 52 down to 49?
Station 31's closing is a direct result of that reduction! This is not the Village of YOU, this is the Village of Streamwood and we deserve the truth!
