Listing would serve gun owners well

I believe gun owners would be well-served if the state’s FOID listing was made available to the public. One reason for gun ownership is personal protection. If a homeowner were also a weapons owner a dangerous invader would be well-advised to check to see if his target was armed. I believe this adversary would think twice before advancing into an armed camp.

I read of one opponent who did not want his name listed so he could surprise any invader. Actually, the invader is the one who presents the surprise encounter, leaving the homeowner little time to prepare. A little doubt goes a long way. Even if you don’t own a gun it would be a plus to let it be known your home had a FOID permit creating reasonable doubt in any invader.
