Mother, baby unharmed during Lisle fire

A mother and her one-week-old child were able to escape their home before a fire left it uninhabitable Tuesday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The mother called 911 reporting a smoking dryer inside the two-story home on the 6400 block of Woodbriar Court at 2:21 p.m., according to the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District.

The first firefighters at the scene found heavy smoke inside the building and called for backup, according to fire officials.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control, and the building was left uninhabitable from smoke and fire damage.

No one was injured during the fire and the mother and baby were the only ones inside when the fire started.

The cause remains under investigation.
