For Lombard Dist. 44: Reese, Wozniak, Weltin

For Lombard Elementary District 44, we endorse incumbents Richard Reese, Brooke Wozniak and challenger Amy Weltin. The district is in healthy financial shape and that is no easy task these days. Reese, Wozniak and the other board members should be proud of that. Weltin would bring a teach background to the board which would be beneficial. The candidates agree that students are well prepared for the transition to high school from Westlake Middle School and that they would work to ensure that continues. District parents have raised concerns about nutritional improvements to the school lunches. The candidates agree but also realize that healthier food options cost more and that those increased costs must be balanced with the reality of a shrinking revenue stream. The other challengers for the board seats — John Chivilo and Stephen Flint — are active participants in the community and district. We encourage them to continue.
