Candidate did respond to inquiries

In the March 15 Daily Herald “Opinion” section, there were some facts about the Warrenville alderman race that are incorrect. First of all, Dan Leonard did answer your questionnaire and e-mailed it back, answering questions about Warrenville. I’m not sure what was done with all that information, but apparently it did not get where it should have gotten.

To say Dan Leonard is “tepid” in his concern for Warrenville and its citizens is very far from the truth. Dan and his family have lived in Warrenville for some 60 years. He has volunteered many hours coaching baseball, soccer, softball, and was one of the people who formed the Warrenville Athletic Association, as well as starting the soccer league. He is retired from the Warrenville police force where he was a part-time officer; he has been a volunteer firefighter for 25 years; he is a Vietnam veteran and a member of the VFW Post in Warrenville; he has been a Boy Scout Leader; he is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and has served on many committees for the betterment of the city. Dan has eight children/step children and 15 grandchildren most of whom live in Warrenville. Does he care about the city? You bet he does.

Currently Dan is the alderman for Ward 3 — not Ward 2 as stated in your article; he is also head of the finance committee. He is doing a great job as an alderman for Warrenville. If you have contacted Dan, you know he responds immediately.

I don’t know Barb Thornbury, but I’m glad to know that she is involved in our city, and I’m sure she is a nice person. You won’t find Dan saying anything negative about anyone running for the city council. You just need to know he loves his job and the opportunity to serve his city.
