Hawks head for road trip without Bolland

Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, there has been no change in Dave Bolland’s condition.

Bolland will miss his third and fourth straight games Thursday at Dallas and Sunday against the Coyotes in Arizona due to the concussion he suffered last week from an elbow to the head by Tampa Bay defenseman Pavel Kubina.

“I’m going to say he’s the same,” Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said.

There is no timetable for any return from a concussion. Hawks center Ryan Johnson missed a week after he suffered one last month in Dallas, but Pittsburgh star Sidney Crosby hasn’t played since early January after taking blows to the head inconsecutive games.

The longer Bolland is out the more concern there is for his availability for the playoffs should the Hawks make it to the postseason.

“It’s one of those things you see (with) a lot of players and some come back quick and some guys don’t,” Jonathan Toews said. “It’s different for everybody, obviously.

“You want Bolly to take his time and make sure he’s 100 percent when he does come back. Who knows when that will be? I have no idea what the timeline is for him, but there’s no denying he’s a big piece of the puzzle here on our squad, especially as a centerman and what he does on the power play and penalty kill.”

Soups not on: Defenseman Bruan Campbell didn#146;t make the trip to Dallas but could pick up the team in Arizona for Sunday#146;s game, according to Joel Quenneville.

#147;Soupy#146;s not going the first part of the trip and we#146;ll see on the last part,#148; Quenneville said.

Campbell has been sidelined with an injury to his left foot.

Business trip:The Hawks went 1-1-2 on last week#146;s four-game road trip that included two days of hectic off-ice activities in Washington.

This weekend#146;s trip to Dallas and Phoenix is all business, they say.

#147;Every game you play the last few months is all business, but this trip there#146;s definitely more time to focus on hockey,#148; winger Patrick Sharp said. #147;We won#146;t be hanging with the President and First Lady. We know the importance of these games and like to think nothing#146;s going to distract us.#148;

With the season entering the final month the club#146;s policy of no more personal appearances by players is now in place as well.

#147;We#146;re kind of all done with the off-ice stuff and it#146;s time to take care ourselves and rest when we#146;re not playing and practicing,#148; Jonathan Toews said. #147;There shouldn#146;t be anything else on our minds at this point in the year. Every guy in this locker room now is focusing on the right things.#148;

Hossa#146;s sticks:Marian Hossa was unavailable to discuss the problem that has been corrected with his sticks, but the issue was with the mold of the stick, according to a source. Hossa has 9 goals in the last 11 games with his new sticks.
