For Des Plaines Dist. 62: Murphy, Poskozim, Lynch
High-functioning and effective describe the Des Plaines Elementary District 62 school board. In one of the few districts coming off the recession with surplus funds, the board has demonstrated foresight, fiscal prudence and effective management. As a longtime board member and president, Brenda Murphy is overseeing a master plan that includes building upgrades and program enhancements. Incumbent Sharon Lynch, a Realtor, has links to local organizations and knows the community’s needs. Attorney and board member James Poskozim is progressive on education and unafraid to challenge the administration on costs. All three are endorsed. Also seeking one of three open seats is newcomer Terry A. Lindsay, a college professor. He believes the district needs a greater focus on struggling students and wants more diversity in hiring. He should continue to push for improvements. But the experience and sound decision making we see in Lynch, Murphy and Poskozim make them the best choices.
