W. Chicago Sister Cities needs host families for German visitors
West Chicago, Illinois: March 15, 2011 - West Chicago Sister Cities (WCSC) is in need of host families for guests from its sister city of Taufkirchen (Vils), Germany. Dates of the visit are Sept. 2-11. According to Melissa Birch, current president of WCSC, “We have 28 German friends who are very excited to be coming to West Chicago!”
Hosts will be responsible for lodging, transportation to local WCSC events and some meals. Ability to speak German is NOT required as many guests speak English and are here to learn more about our community and the American way of life.
“If you are unable to help with overnight lodging, but would like to participate in the fun and learning, then ‘day hosting' is just the thing for you”, explains Birch. “We will need assistance during the day with the group, and it is a delightful way to enjoy the exchange and meet some of our wonderful friends from Taufkirchen (Vils), Germany.”
Those interested in getting involved in the host program should visit www.westchicagosistercities.com for an application; e-mail WCSCPrez@gmail.com; or call Melissa Birch at (630) 621-0128. A WCSC group meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at Pal Joey's Restaurant, 440 E. Roosevelt Road in West Chicago.
