New West Chicago Blog Offers A Sense of Place

West Chicago, Illinois: March 15, 2011 – A new local history blog being produced by the West Chicago City Museum, will be anything but dry and dusty. A Sense of Place, published on the City of West Chicago's website, www.westchicago.org, will provide readers with brief capsules of local history in a lively and entertaining format. The first installation, What's in a Name? begins at the beginning – the origins of the City's name.

Bi-monthly posts will focus on people, places and things that have contributed to the City's legacy and will include photos where applicable and available. Starting in April, the blog will contain additional essays to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

Museum staff is excited about the opportunity the blog poses to share web-based snippets of history on a regular basis, and would like to hear back from readers as to what West Chicago history subjects they would like to see explored. Readers who are intrigued by blog postings are encouraged to visit the Museum, located at 132 Main Street, to see and learn more.
