Hastert, Daley friendship gives hope

How refreshing it was to read in the Daily Herald (March 4) that J. Dennis Hastert, former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, introduced Mayor Richard Daley at Wheaton College as “my good friend.”

Their relationship proves that Democrats and Republicans can cooperate to get things done for the public good. They set an example that many current office holders would do well to follow.
