No one hurt in Algonquin house fire

Firefighters are still trying to determine the cause of a fire on the 3300 block of First Street of Algonquin Saturday evening.

No one was injured in the fire at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, according to a fire department news release.

Officials said the homeowner discovered the fire in an upstairs bedroom. Everyone was able to get out of the home safely, officials said, despite a lack of working smoke detectors. Officials said the resident in the home was remodeling and had removed the detectors while painting.

Fire officials said the fire was out within 30 minutes.

The cost of the damage was unavailable early Monday.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was assisted by firefighters from Carpentersville, Cary, Crystal Lake and Fox River Grove.
