John Fergus of Mount Prospect will be missed by many
On the 25th of February the SALUTE, INC. family lost a key volunteer, supporter, and friend, as John Fergus of Mount Prospect died suddenly.
John had four young boys, a great wife, and a wonderful family and many friends. He had literally attended most if not all SALUTE, INC. events, volunteering and encouraging his friends and neighbors to join our cause.
John went out of his way to help Mary Beth and I. No matter what we asked, he came with his sons to help. Rain or shine, warm weather or bitter cold, he was there for us.
John was a personal friend of mine, not sure how long I knew John and his family, probably about 25 years and counting, but the real message I want to impart on our SALUTE family is that no matter what you do in life, do something and do not be afraid. John was resolute about his dedication to his family and friends. He set a great example for all of us and cared for all without hesitation. John had no fear.
In closing, the real testament of what makes a person special or a hero, lies in their heart.
If one’s intentions are geared toward helping others above self, then you will see those intentions through their actions. It was quite apparent that John’s heart was focused on the right things and with the right motives. He set a high bar for all of us to work toward, much like those who serve us daily throughout the world in our military. They, like John, serve and sometimes make great sacrifices for us, with no reservations.
Let’s keep all our heroes and their families in our thoughts and prayers daily. As for John Fergus, say a special prayer for him and his family, but be assured that he is advocating for all of us from above with no reservations of who we are or what we believe, but because it is the right thing to do.
John, you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Will and Mary Beth Beiersdorf, and the entire SALUTE, INC. family
