For Vernon Hills village board: Hebda, Marquardt and Schwartz
Daily Herald Editorial Board
As Vernon Hills residents head to the polls, they should take note of the village’s robust financial health. Trustee Jeanne Schwartz points out the board had the foresight to plan for a downturn, and now the village has more than $18 million in reserve and a AAA bond rating. Fellow incumbent Michael Marquardt favors continuing the incentives that have filled retail vacancies in town. And Trustee Cindy Hebda wants to collaborate with the village’s business parks to promote career development and help residents who are unemployed. Challenger Thomas Newberg, a Greggs Landing resident, aims to provide better representation for that subdivision, and he also would bring corporate business experience. But, for demonstrating they are good financial stewards, the incumbents deserve another term.
