Concert to feature clothing drive for Marklund

At its fourth subscription concert of the 57th season, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra asks patrons to donate formalwear and other clothing to Marklund. The concert, “Barber and Bernstein,” will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Wentz Concert Hall, North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville.

Marklund will have a table of information as well as bins for the donated clothing.

Marklund provides compassionate care to infants, children and adults with severe developmental disabilities.

The call for clothing donations goes along with the orchestra's season theme of “Invitation to the Dance.” Because Marklund clients look forward to their annual Spring Fling dance, dressing up for the occasion is a tremendous pleasure. This is why clothing donations are sought.

Gently used semiformal clothing for children and young adults is sought. Donations can include dress pants, shoes, button-up shirts, dresses, blouses and skirts in sizes range from 12 month infant (girl) to men's medium and ladies' 14. Any donations not selected for the Spring Fling will be sold in Marklund's resale store in Wood Dale.

“The Spring Fling dance in May is one of our clients' favorite events,” said Vicki Krystof, director of development at Marklund. “Everyone dresses up, dances to DJ music, and plays fun games. We are so grateful for the DuPage Symphony Orchestra for including us as part of ‘Invitation to Dance' and for seeing the potential to help our clients.”
