Winfield candidates can overcome hurdles
I’ve always supported causes I believe in whether it’s marching in Washington D.C. while in college, giving a voice to abused/neglected children in the DuPage County court system as a court-appointed special advocate in my 20s, joining the Winfield Junior Women’s Club in my 30s to lend my support to their community activities and philanthropy, to currently teaching religious education at my church, and volunteering at my children’s school with room-parent activities, supporting the school play and chairing fundraisers.
Now I am supporting the cause of getting certain candidates elected to the Winfield village board because I want the best for my family, and I believe in these candidates’ abilities and desires to do what’s best for our village. Our village is facing major hurdles right now such as the poor condition of our streets and no money to repair them. The incumbent candidates’ solution for the streets was to raise our taxes to pay for the repair. That obviously didn’t go over well with the residents, considering the majority of residents voted “No” to the proposed tax increase.
With Tony Reyes’ extensive successful business experience and longtime commitment to the community through volunteer work, and with Tim Allen’s energy and fresh ideas, they get my vote to help the village overcome its hurdles.
We need these new candidates to get elected. If you feel you’d like to support these candidates by placing a sign in your yard, let me know and I’ll pass on the message. Thank you for taking an active interest in the future of our village.
