Trustees fiddled as Schaumburg burne

First, Schaumburg residents were saddled with a property tax because the mayor, finance committee and trustees weren't paying attention to village finances. Now, after reading in the Daily Herald for at least the past three years about the rapidly declining financial situation of the Schaumburg Flyers, the village is finally responding by evicting the team.

How about taking care of problems before they reach the worst-case scenario — a lawsuit of more than $920,000 and eviction? Or having to levy a property tax?

To add insult to injury, I received a candidate flyer from three village trustees — Madej, Curcio and Dunham. How dare they say “they worked to lower the property tax levy with the ultimate goal of eliminating it.” They're the ones who instituted the tax levy!

Oh, but they “eliminated the $20 vehicle sticker fee” along with other fees that “average $180 year.” Wow, they're saving us $200 a year. Sure doesn't cover the tax increase I have to pay, thanks to them.
