For Glendale Heights board: Pope

Glendale Heights trustee, Dist. 1

Voters in the Glendale Heights village board’s District 1 have two long-term elected officials to choose from to fill a four-year trustee term: Ten-year incumbent Ed Pope or Marquardt Elementary District 15 board member H. William Schmidt. Pope says he’s worked hard for the village and wants to continue serving to make sure the village is stable financially and in terms of the services it provides to residents. Schmidt says he hopes to focus on community safety and on being responsive to citizens. If elected, Schmidt plans to step down from the District 15 board. And, with his wife serving as village clerk, Schmidt says he will abstain from any votes that have to do with her employment. While both candidates offer residents proven track records of service, the Daily Herald endorses Pope for his experience on the board and commitment to using it in the best interests of Glendale Heights.
