Beth Judea Men’s Club announces its Man of the Year

The Midwest region of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs held its annual Man of the Year dinner Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Beth Hillel Congregation B’nai Emunah, 3220 Big Tree Lane, Wilmette.

Congregation Beth Judea’s Men’s Club of Long Grove proudly honored Dr. Robert Weissman as its 2011 Man of the Year. Weissman has been very active in Beth Judea’s Men’s Club and Synagogue life for many years.

Whether serving on the men’s club or providing support to many other shul activities, Weissman provides an example of how men’s club members can make an impact in the synagogue. He is always available to lend a hand and to provide leadership to the club.

For these past activities, and in anticipation of his future contributions, Beth Judea’s Men’s Club is proud to have Robert Weissman as its 2011 Man of the Year. Weissman has been a member of Beth Judea and the men’s club since 1972.

He was co-president in the early ’70s. He is married to Marcia and they live in Wildwood. They have three children, Sari and Michael Montgomery and Simone Weissman. He and Marcia have three grandchildren, Jacob, Evan and Maggie.

Weissman was a veterinarian from 1968-2006, and was the owner of Lake Animal Hospital in Libertyville. Since he has retired, he has renewed his commitment to the men’s club and is leading it in doing Mitzvot.

He is currently the co-chair of the Beth Judea Men’s Club Mitzvah committee and volunteers at a soup kitchen.

Fred Rabinowitz, president of Beth Judea’s Men’s Club, says of Weissman: “Bob’s creative and enthusiastic input into all areas of our club has been a driving force for the success of the Beth Judea’s Men’s Club. There is no man more deserving of being named our Man of the Year 2011 than Bob Weissman.”

“I am very honored,” says Weissman, “to be selected as Beth Judea Men’s Club’s 2011 Man of the Year. I am proud to be able to contribute to the success of a great organization, and I feel privileged to be included with a group of special men who have helped to make men’s club so vital a force in synagogue life.

“I’d also like to thank men’s club President Fred Rabinowitz for stepping up to provide strong leadership for our chapter and for his continued confidence in me.”
