Copeland Manor teacher now Highland asst. principal
Copeland Manor fifth grade teacher Kerri Bongle was named Monday night as the new Highland Middle School assistant principal as of July 1.
Bongle, 32, replaces Jon Hallmark who will be promoted to principal with the retirement of current principal Sharon Aspinall this summer.
"I am thrilled to be joining District 70's administrative team and the amazing staff at Highland Middle School,” Bongle said. “I am thankful for the opportunity to work with Jon Hallmark to continue Highland's stellar reputation."
Bongle, who has taught in Libertyville Elementary District 70 for 10 years beginning with third grade at Copeland Manor, also was named Director of District 70's summer school program this year. The up and coming administrator previously served as summer school principal for three years.
A University of Dayton alumni who graduated cum laude, Bongle earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Northeastern Illinois University four years ago. She also received her administrative certificate in 2007.
“Clearly this was a positive decision of all involved,” said Superintendent Dr. Guy Schumacher of the selection process that narrowed a highly qualified field down to five superior applicants. “With a pool of very strong and impressive candidates the competition was challenging. Nonetheless, Kerri's skills and attributes continued to rise to the top. Her dedication toward advancing Highland's commitment of excellence is inspiring. We are very pleased to have her join the administrative team.”
